ElevenLabs Unveils Music v2.5 as New Default Model

ElevenLabs on Friday released Music v2.5, its latest music generation model, and made it the default for prompted and reference-based generation inside ElevenMusic.

According to the company’s official blog post, Music v2.5 produces more layered and complex songs with improved, more natural-sounding instruments compared with its predecessor. In an internal blind test of 47,885 prompt pairs, the new model was preferred the majority of the time. The quality gap was largest on vocal-led and acoustic-heavy styles including R&B, soul, hip-hop, rock, metal, orchestral and cinematic music.

Ownership terms remain unchanged: users own the tracks they generate on every plan, including Free. Free accounts now receive five lossless downloads per day, while Pro accounts receive 400 lossless downloads per month. Downloads continue to be blocked on any track that references another artist’s song.

Music v2.5 is available immediately in ElevenMusic, ElevenCreative and via the ElevenLabs API. It can also be used as a node inside Flows and Studio. The previous Music v2 model remains accessible for users who prefer it.

The release comes one day after ElevenLabs and Universal Music Group announced a multi-year licensing and product-development agreement that includes a forthcoming fan-facing remix platform built on licensed UMG catalog.

No additional technical details on training data, parameter count or inference pricing were disclosed in the announcement.
