Advisory

Narracomm has read emerging technology from the source since 2012.

A research and communications firm for companies building what the market hasn’t caught up with yet. AI now. Robotics next.

Narracomm is a research and communications firm founded by Justin Ray in 2012 to serve emerging technology. We read the primary sources first — the filing, the advisory, the company release — and turn that intelligence into websites, digital marketing, and media relations. Our work spans blockchain, fintech, artificial intelligence, biotechnology and robotics, on budgets from modest to multi-million dollar campaigns.

Why 2012 is the number that matters

Anyone can claim expertise in an emerging sector. The question worth asking is what they were doing during the last downturn.

We started serving blockchain companies when the sector was mostly forums and a handful of exchanges. We were still working when the 2017 wave arrived, and still working after most of the agencies that arrived with it had closed. The same pattern is running again in AI: a great many firms have discovered deep expertise in a field they encountered eighteen months ago.

Having worked through more than one full cycle mainly teaches you one thing — the difference between a technology and a story about a technology.

That distinction is the whole job. It’s why we read the primary source before we write the sentence. It’s what stops a launch being built on a claim that won’t survive contact with a technical journalist, what tells you whether a slow quarter is a market condition or a positioning problem, and why clients who came to us in one cycle are often still here in the next.

Intelligence first. Then communications.

Most firms in this space work backward from the story they want to tell. We work forward from what’s actually happening. Every day we read and record the primary sources moving emerging technology — the filings, the advisories, the deals, the shutdowns — and publish that record openly.

That record is not a side project. It’s the method. The same discipline that fills it is what we bring to a client: narrative and positioning grounded in what is verifiably true the day it is true, not in a claim we’re hoping holds. When you hire Narracomm, you’re hiring the firm that already knows what’s happening in your category before the trade press does.

What we actually do

Three disciplines usually bought from three different suppliers — which is precisely why they so often contradict each other.

01BuildWe build and administer websites. We run them, maintain them, and stay responsible for them after launch — the part most agencies quietly hand back to you.
02MarketDigital marketing in full: search, paid media, content, email, analytics. Fourteen years of it, across budgets from almost nothing to multi-million dollar campaigns.
03CommunicateMedia relations, messaging and crisis communications. Placements have included Forbes, Fortune, Reuters, the AP, VICE, and many more.

They work better together. The message a founder gives a reporter, the copy on the homepage, and the ad running against a competitor’s name should be the same argument — and should match what the primary record actually says. When three suppliers own those surfaces, they never quite do, and the gap is visible to exactly the people you’re trying to convince.

Where we’ve placed clients

And others. Media relations in emerging technology is less about a contact list than about being able to explain a technical product to a journalist in terms their editor will accept. That translation is the hard part, and it’s most of what we do.

Across blockchain infrastructure, digital assets, media, consumer brands and events — from venture-backed protocols to independent operators.

The common thread isn’t the technology — it’s the situation. Every one of these clients was explaining something the market didn’t yet have a category for. That’s a communications problem before it’s a marketing problem, and treating it as the second when it’s the first is the most expensive mistake in the sector.

Who you’ll be working with

Justin Ray

Founder

Justin founded Narracomm in 2012 and has worked across every part of research, communications, and digital marketing since — reading the sources, building the sites, running the campaigns, writing the pitches, and making the calls when something went wrong at an inconvenient hour.

That matters for a practical reason: when you talk to Narracomm, you’re talking to the person who will do the work and who has done it before — not a business-development lead who will introduce you to a team later.

[[OPTIONAL: one or two sentences of personal background — a history and German-language background, what pulled you into emerging tech in 2012. Origin stories convert. Keep it to two sentences.]]

How we work

  • Source first. We read the primary document before we write the sentence. The record on this site is the proof of it.
  • Founder-led. The person you meet is the person doing the work. No account layer, no handoff to juniors after signing.
  • Straight answers. Including the ones that cost us. If a channel isn’t working, we’ll say so before you notice.
  • Budget-appropriate. A small budget isn’t a scaled-down large one — it’s a different discipline. Having run both for years is what makes it possible to tell you when spending more genuinely won’t help.
  • Built to be handed over. Sites, systems and documentation you own. If you ever leave, you leave with something that works.

Things we’d rather say now than after you’ve paid

  • If you need one press release, don’t hire a firm. You need a freelancer and an afternoon. We’ll point you at one.
  • Marketing accelerates whatever is already true. If the product isn’t ready, spend will make the problem arrive faster and louder. We’d rather tell you that in the first call than the third month.
  • Media coverage isn’t a growth strategy. It’s excellent for credibility, hiring and fundraising, and unreliable for pipeline. Anyone promising otherwise is selling something.
  • Nobody can guarantee placement. Anyone who does is either lying or paying for it and calling it earned.

Is this a fit?

✔ Probably yes if

  • You’re building something that needs explaining before it can be sold
  • You want marketing, comms and the website to stop contradicting each other
  • You’d rather have one accountable partner than three suppliers
  • You want to be told the truth about what’s working
✖ Probably not if

  • You want guaranteed placements or guaranteed rankings
  • You’re looking for the cheapest possible execution of a fixed brief
  • You need a large team on site rather than a senior operator
  • The product isn’t built yet and the plan is to market first

Why we publish everything

The record and the guides on this site — the trackers, the prompt systems, the crisis frameworks — aren’t lead magnets dressed as expertise. They’re the actual method, published in full, including the parts a client would pay for.

That’s a deliberate trade. Some readers will take the frameworks and run them in-house, which is a fine outcome and the point of writing them. Others will read them, recognise how much judgement it takes to apply them under pressure, and get in touch. Both beat a site that asks you to take our word for it.

You can judge how we think before you ever speak to us. That’s the intent.

Let’s talk about what you’re building.

Tell us what you’re working on and where it’s stuck. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll say so and point you somewhere better.

Common questions

What is Narracomm?

A research and communications firm founded by Justin Ray in 2012 to serve emerging technology. We read the primary sources first — filings, advisories, company releases — and turn that intelligence into websites, digital marketing, and media relations, across blockchain, fintech, AI, biotechnology and robotics, on budgets from modest to multi-million dollar.

Who founded Narracomm?

Justin Ray, in 2012. He has worked across every part of research, communications, and digital marketing, and the firm has served emerging technology clients continuously since — through multiple market cycles.

What makes Narracomm different?

We work from the primary source forward, not the story backward. We publish a daily, primary-sourced record of emerging technology, and the discipline that fills it is what we bring to client work: narrative grounded in what’s verifiably true the day it’s true.

What size budgets does Narracomm work with?

From limited budgets to multi-million dollar campaigns. Small budgets aren’t a lesser version of large ones — they’re a different discipline, and running both for years is what lets us tell a client honestly when spending more wouldn’t help.
